Bayside's summer centered on the Freeman Arts Pavilion's lawn and four outdoor pools. The off-season is much smaller. As of the club's hours update on October 16, 2026, 38 Degrees Bar & Restaurant, Sun Ridge Pools & Café, Commons Pool, North Haven Pool and The Point Pool are all listed as "Closed for the Season." For most of the week, what's left is Signatures, the Sun Ridge building, the Health & Aquatic Club and whatever residents organize themselves.
That smaller footprint is the key to a Bayside winter. Social life moves into a couple of rooms, lunch clubs book tables outside the gates, and the construction at Bayside Marketplace is aimed at the gap that opens once the bayside bar closes.
What's Still Open as November Starts
Here's the on-property lineup from the Bayside hours of operation page, updated October 16, 2026:
| Spot | Off-season status |
|---|---|
| Signatures Restaurant | Sun 10:00am–8:00pm, Mon–Wed 11:30am–8:00pm, Thu–Sat 11:30am–9:00pm |
| 38 Degrees Bar & Restaurant | Closed for the season |
| Juicebox at The Health & Aquatic Club | Daily 8:00am–3:00pm |
| The Health & Aquatic Club building | Daily 7:00am–7:00pm, swipe access 5:00am–7:00am and 7:00pm–10:00pm |
| Sun Ridge building | Daily 8:00am–5:00pm |
| Sun Ridge Pools & Café, Commons, North Haven, The Point | Closed for the season |
| Golf Shop | 8:00am–4:00pm daily from November 1 through February 28 |
Of the restaurants on the club's list, Signatures is the only one with posted year-round hours. It opens earliest on Sundays, at 10:00am, and stays open latest Thursday through Saturday, until 9:00pm. The dining page also links a Fall 2026 Signatures menu. Three Pennies Grille lists regular service seven days a week from May through October, and its off-season hours go through the golf shop. Starting this Sunday, November 1, the Golf Shop opens at 8:00am and closes at 4:00pm. Tee times begin an hour after the shop opens, so the first round of the day starts at 9:00am.
The indoor pool at The Health & Aquatic Club keeps the water open all winter, with lap swim from 7:00am to 10:00am and recreational and lap swim from 10:00am to 6:45pm. Juicebox, in the same building, serves daily from 8:00am to 3:00pm, which covers mornings and lunch.
Signatures and Sun Ridge Host Most of the Calendar
The October calendar on Bayside Compass, the homeowners' community site, puts nearly every recurring gathering in one of two places. Here's how a typical week looked this month:
- Monday: Ladies Game Day at Signatures, 10:30am to 2:30pm.
- Tuesday: Bridge Club at Sun Ridge Tennis and Recreation Center, 9:30am to 12:30pm.
- Thursday: Bridge Club again at Sun Ridge in the morning. On alternating Thursdays, the Stitcher's Group meets at Sun Ridge, 31381 Forsythia Drive, from 10:00 to 11:30am for knitting, needlework, cross-stitch, crochet and hand quilting, and the group's listing says new members are welcome. Chess Club meets at The Library @ Signatures from 3:00 to 5:00pm.
The Social Committee also met at Signatures in The Library on October 13. This fall, the HOA Social Committee added free Mah Jongg classes for Bayside members. They run every Thursday from October 22 through November 12, noon to 3:00pm, in the Sun Ridge game room, and the remaining sessions focus on beginner and intermediate players. According to the Legum & Norman update for the week ending October 16, members check in at the front desk with a membership card, space may be limited, and the committee asks for an email naming the dates you plan to attend. When this post goes out on Thursday, October 29, three sessions remain, including that afternoon's.
The Bayside Institute adds scheduled classes to the club meetups. The fall and early-winter roster includes beginner American Mahjong, Chef Tim Purdy's chicken Alfredo flatbread class, Sound Healing, fall floral centerpieces, acrylic painting and holiday craft workshops, along with lunch-and-learn talks on sports medicine and estate planning.
One small new addition fits the indoor season well. The main mailroom now has the Bayside Exchange, a take-one, leave-one shelf for gently used books, puzzles and games. Bayside Compass credits Jan Stambaugh and Michael Bennett with getting the shelving in place.
Lunch Clubs Book Tables Outside the Gates
Bayside's in-house routine fits in a few rooms. Its restaurant outings don't. In October, every resident meal on the calendar was booked somewhere off property:
- ROMEO's Breakfast, October 1, at Bethany Diner, 792 Garfield Parkway in Bethany Beach. The listing asked for RSVPs and suggested carpooling because parking is limited.
- ROMEO's Lunch, October 15, at Porto Pizza & Grill, 33168 Main Street in Dagsboro.
- Bayside Ladies & Men's Lunch, October 16, at Vista Rooftop at the Fenwick Inn, 13801 Coastal Highway in Ocean City. Reservations were required.
These outings range from Bethany Beach to Dagsboro to the north end of Ocean City. Inside the community, Signatures remains the posted full-service option, and the Marketplace adds Fox's Pizza. Fox's lists its Bayside Shopping Center location as open every day from 11:00am to 1:00am.
Even the Pavilion's Programs Move Indoors
The Freeman Arts Pavilion's $43 million, five-acre campus, with seating for 4,000, defined this summer at Bayside. Its off-season schedule is much smaller:
- November 10, 2:00pm: "O, Say Can You See: The Origin of the Star Spangled Banner," a Freeman Arts program at the Pavilion address, 31806 Lake View Drive.
- December 4, 6:00pm: the Holiday Sing Along with The Delmarva Chorus, held at the Carl M. Freeman Foundation Office Building rather than on the Pavilion stage.
Before either of those, the community's own calendar has the first event of the season's end: Halloween Trick or Treat this Saturday, October 31, from 6:00 to 8:00pm in the North Haven neighborhood.
Practical note for the same weeks: off-season curbside trash pickup is weekly on Mondays, and recycling is picked up every other week. Bayside Compass posts which Monday is "trash only."
What's Going Up at Bayside Marketplace
This is where the construction on Americana Parkway connects to everything above. On October 1, Southern Delaware Brewing Company announced Fenwick Island Brewing, a brewpub at Bayside Marketplace, built in partnership with Carl M. Freeman Companies. Delaware Business Times reported that construction is underway and the opening is planned for 2027. Milford LIVE gives the address as 31225 Americana Parkway, between Selbyville and Fenwick Island. It will be the company's third brewpub, after Thompson Island Brewing Company near Rehoboth Beach and Ocean View Brewing Company in Ocean View. Plans call for lunch, happy hour and dinner.
The company has described the place it's aiming for. In a prepared statement quoted by Delaware Business Times, Southern Delaware Brewing Vice President Nelia Dolan said:
"Whether you're finishing a round of golf, heading to a show at Freeman Arts Pavilion, or simply looking for a relaxed place to meet friends and family, we want Fenwick Island Brewing to become part of your story."
Golf runs all winter on the 8:00-to-4:00 shop schedule, and the Pavilion goes quiet. That leaves the third use on her list, a casual meeting place, which describes the off-season lunches the community currently books in Bethany Beach, Dagsboro and Ocean City. The announcement included no restaurant size, seating capacity or investment figure. The company expects to share construction, hiring and opening details over the course of 2027.
For anyone who wants a preview, the Bayside Institute's 2027 schedule includes a Thompson Island Brewing tasting and tour at the Fenwick brewpub's sister location. Thompson Island won a silver medal at the 2023 Great American Beer Festival for Never Been Wrong, a beer aged in white wine barrels with wild yeast.
The brewpub may not be the last tenant. Carl M. Freeman Companies' founder letter to homeowners, dated September 28, says Marketplace construction will continue as the project moves forward. It also says future tenants will announce themselves on their own timelines and that the goal is "another destination within Bayside where Owners can walk, gather and enjoy new offerings close to home." Until then, Signatures still serves dinner until 9:00pm Thursday through Saturday, and on Thursday afternoons the Chess Club meets in The Library @ Signatures.
